What are some creative diy wedding favors or budget friendly favors?

Whatever you decide, make sure it’s something consumable. Either something your guests can eat or use (the soap is a great idea). The matches are a good idea as well, since you can always stick them in a drawer, and find them the next time the lights go out and you’re looking for the matches to light candles. Stay away from stuff like engraved glasses or little picture frames, because those wind up in the trash. A great idea is cookies–you can even make them yourself if you’d like. Cookies freeze wonderfully well, so you can even do this a week or so in advance, and then just defrost them the day of the wedding. Have little containers or bags and let guests pick their own cookies, my sister did this for her daughter’s wedding and it was a great hit!

Anything that you order personalized will get expensive. I’ve found some local craft stores that sell a variety of containers that can hold numerous types of items which you can add ribbon or gift tags. I’m going with one of my favorite candies (after dinner mints). Edible is always good. Also, consider what may be useful to your guests. My other favor is folding fans. My wedding is in August with an outdoor ceremony. I will probably tie a ribbon with a tag that says our names and wedding date to the fan. Card stock is great for printing on to make tags, its heavier than paper and comes in a variety of colors. You can use various hole punches found in scrap booking sections to make a hole for threading ribbons. Hope this helps!!
You already ordered the matches? Because I would say those arent really worth your money.
The best favors are edible. You could get some Godiva chocolates (get the ones sold in those giant bags that are individually wrapped, I have even seen them on sale) and put a few in your own boxes/bags. That is less expensive than the mini box of Godiva, but it is still a special treat your guests will love.
Or, put a selection of specialty teas (like Yogi tea for example) with a biscuit in a box/bag.
Again, the best favors are edible and dont cost a fortune. Just some small and cute, be creative with your little bag or box and make it look nice.
I’m mexican and my husband is not.. When we got married.. I made mexican wedding cookies and put them in boxes. I got really pretty card stock at Micheals and printed Thank you Cards put them inside the box in two languages. Spanish for me and Swedish for my husband. It was really easy. Everyone at the reception though
You’ve gotten some great suggestions; I’d just like to add one more.
You could make bookmarks. Some colored paper and creativity and you could make really cost-effective and personalized favors that would be used in the future. If you don’t have access to a laminating machine, you can put the bookmarks between layers of clear contact paper (sticky shelf liner) to protect them.

If you decided you wanted soap favors (but perhaps didn’t want to make it) this site has fortune cookie shaped soap in just about every flavor you can imagine. This way you can personalize them to match your color theme. They can put the bride and grooms name on the inside “fortune” or the wedding date… the price however depends on the order. One particular idea for homemade and very individualized favors would be to find small (4x5in) photo frames in bulk to put the bride and grooms engagement photo in. I attended a wedding where the bride and groom wrote their wedding date at the bottom of the frame (the frame was made from a white plastic and Styrofoam-like substance so the writing would appear and to make the frames less expensive). They also had a dainty bow at the right corner in the wedding colors.
